What is stress? It is your body’s way of responding to any kind of demand. It can be caused by both good and bad experiences.
When a person feels stressed by something going on around him, his/her body reacts by releasing chemicals into the blood. This gives the person more energy and strength, which can be a good thing if the stress is caused by physical danger. But this can also be a bad thing, if the stress is in response to something emotional and there is no outlet for this extra energy and strength.
These are the 4 ways you can decrease stress:
1. Maximize endorphin production: When you exercise, your body releases chemicals called endorphins. Endorphins interact with the receptors in your brain that reduce your perception of pain. Endorphins also trigger a positive feeling in the body. So, one of the quickest and surest ways to diminish the negative side effects of stress is to get your sweat on by getting into heavy excercise routine.
2. Learn how to say “no” more often: You have to learn to say ‘no’ to avoid unnecessary stress. Apply your mind and energy in something you really want to, don’t get involved in something unnecessary. This simple habit of saying ‘no’ to unnecessary things forces you to zero-in on what matters most for that particular day that will give you your biggest return on energy and time.
3. Go make someone else’s day: Strange? The positive feeling that you relalize after helping someone is priceless.
4. Monitor your food habits: Avoid junk foods. Eat healthy and stay refreshed!
So, take care of your health and monitor what you put into your body on priority.
Use these four strategies described above to minimise stress and maximise your performance.
